NIGERIA PHOTO DIARY!!

Hi lovely readers,

Welcome back to my blog and to another travel post from me. Today I am sharing pictures from my trip to Nigeria. This pictures were taken while attending my friends traditional marriage. I marvelled about Nigeria's culture in my previous post here.

Today I will document the reasons as to why I personally love travelling. I love travelling for two reasons: (1) the world perspective and (2)a breathing moment.

I read an article on how having a world perspective makes for a well rounded human being. This couldn't be further from the truth. I now have that patience for different perspectives and I can definitely say I truly appreciate who I am as an individual and my culture in general.

I also love travelling for a breathing moment - If there is one thing I can safely say: is that when you are in your late twenties and not married, the public takes it upon themselves to remind you that the clock is ticking. At some point its endearing but in other instances its stressful. So if I can get away just from this stress for a second, well why not?

Thanks for stopping by.

Love;
Aika!

Flash Back Friday: Vacation Affair

Hi Lovely readers,

Welcome back to my blog. Ever since I arrived in Zanzibar, It feels like I have caught the travel bug. Well, I better enjoy this work trip because it will be months before I set foot in another town.

I was going through my pictures and came across these, I took sometimes when I had the opportunity to have an all play vacation. This dress was perfect for all day walking around and dealing with that heat, it was sooo hot I almost hated it.

When I look at these pictures I am reminded that our dreams are valid and come true if we have the courage to work hard for them.

I wish you all a lovely weekend.

TRAVEL IN STYLE

Hi Lovely Readers,
Welcome back to my blog. Well, since am still travelling, I thought I should do a travel related post today.
When travelling, accessories here and there can make you appear stylish and comfortable at the same time. For me, I have 4 key accessories that I must have every time I am travelling.
1. Sunglasses.
Sunglasses are not only for beauty purposes, but they are very functional when you want to fall asleep during the travel.
2. Oversized Scarf.
I always have a scarf around my neck every time I am travelling. A scarf dresses up a plain outfit and at the same time it can be used for cover up when it gets cold.

3. Tote Handbag.
I like carrying tote handbags as they are spacious and can accommodate all my travel essentials from travel documents to chargers and my travel entertainment gear. With a tote handbag, you will have ample space to even carry a leather jacket in case the weather may change at the destination.
4. Comfy Flats.
I have seen a lot of people (especially celebrities) travel with high heels. Well power to them, but for regular folks like myself, a simple and classy pair of flats is adequate for that travel. Most of the times I prefer TOMS for travel because they are both stylish and comfortable.

Thank you for stopping by.

ZANZIBAR TOUR GUIDE

Hi Lovely readers,

Welcome back to my blog. I am currently away for work in the beautiful Zanzibar. While I am here, a friend asked me if she can choose this as a honeymoon destination and I highly recommended it. Here is why:

Zanzibar is the ultimate tropical honeymoon destination. There are lots of things that you can do in this beautiful town. Here are the things you can do in Zanzibar:

1. The prisoners Island
The prisoners Island is 20 - 30minutes boat ride from Zanzibar. This island is very historical and contains the oldest tortoise I have ever seen. In addition to the history, its a beautiful island to snorkel.

2. Nungwi beaches.
Nungwi have the best beaches I have personally seen. Oooh my, and there are so many activities you can do including parasailing, snorkelling, jet ski rides, diving, sunset cruises and even attend beach parties.

3. Stone Town:
This is the heart of Zanzibar and I dare say, it's the most historical town in East Africa. The activities in this town include sight seeing and shopping.

4. Forodhani Gardens:
These gardens are located at stone town and are legendary for their evening local dishes. While staying at Stone Town, an evening stroll to forodhani gardens for dinner will be a treat you will never forget. Try sea food dishes and their renowed sugarcane juice (I have gained enough pounds from eating the foods there).

5. Palace Museums and House of Wonders:
This is the most historical museum in Zanzibar and is two minutes walk from Forodhani Gardens. It contains historical collections of the Sultan of Zanzibar and so much more.

6. Spice Tours:
One thing is for sure, while in Zanzibar you will eat the most spiced meals. Zanzibar is famous for its spices and you can take a tour to the spice farms and learn a lot about seasoning and spices.

7. Local Spas:
Zanzibar is legendary for its local spas that uses from sea salt to seaweed, to the array of therapeutic spices in its treatments. You will love any spa experience you indulge into.

8. Local Music and Festivals:
If you visit Zanzibar during the high tourist season, its likely there will be events to entertain you. Events such as Full Moon parties, Taarab and Sauti za Busara are usually the main night life events.

Thanks for stopping by.

Packing Tips: The Corporate edition

Hi Lovely readers,
Welcome back to my blog. I was packing the other day and realised how packing had got easier with time. I used to travel with a big bag but suffered from lack of clothing when I arrived at my destination. After a lot of trials and errors and reading through a lot of articles and blogs; I have come up with tips that help me travel light and with the appropriate amount of clothing.

1. Get in touch with the weather man

First things first, you need to know the climate of the area you are travelling to. This will help you determine the type of clothing you should pack and even the type of bag you should have.

 2. Plan your outfits
Write down what you will wear on each day that you are away and select the clothes you will require. I always pack clothes that can be worn on different styles to prevent carrying a large amount of clothing. Don't forget to include the right undergarments for your planned outfits.

3. Pack your toiletries in the correct bag
If you are flying and have only a carry on bag, make sure your liquids are in the correct size bottles and well packed in their bag to avoid spillage.

 4. Day to night accessories.
Always pack something that will take you straight from the office to a party. A good clutch will immediately transform day look to night look.

5. Pack a variety of shoes
I was one of those people who will pack only functional shoes. I would pack either flats or work shoes, but then something unexpected event will happen and I wouldn't have shoes to update my outfits for the events. But I have learnt it is important to carry a variety of shoes that will function for all types of occasions.

6. Protect your accessories and delicate fabrics.

If you are travelling with sequined or similar outfits, make sure they are wrapped to prevent damage. I actually learnt this from Wendy's lookbook (here).

I hope this tips are helpful. Let me know of any additional tips in the comments section below.

Hi lovely readers,

Happy new year. May 2015 be the best year yet.

2015 has started off ooh so well for me. Despite January being the hardest month for me, am optimistic that this will be my best year yet.

I was scrolling through my album and came across these beautiful pictures my friends and I took while we visited Paris. Its safe to say, that was the best time/holiday in my life. I crossed off an item in my bucket list (though am rethinking of Paris as my dream honeymoon destination).
